What an encouragement for ourselves and a reminder that we should not be so quick to give up on anyone. Thank God he uses broken people. Otherwise, who would he use?

Yes, I too wonder and I keep coming back to choice, like Ignatius, he chose to let go of self and delve deeper – trust and submit to an unknown, the beginning of his journey with encountering God. For me it starts with a sense, a sense of knowing, of being challenged and we can accept that challenge or explore the sense we have to go deeper, but we can always chose not to and keep going the way we always have. I wonder what it was like for Ignatius when he began to have the visions and moments of spiritual euphoria, was there a choice, could he have choose to recall the visions of women etc. I think we are all given the opportunity but some of us chose not to take it.

I understand about the ability to make choices I guess but I wonder about why people make choices for a way of life that destroys rather than gives life taking into account damage that is done by others that make this choice difficult. Looking at this story of Ignatious makes me wonder why did he choose the better way and others don’t given the same opportunity.

I’m not sure, but maybe because we were given the gift of choice – it is our choice to respond or not.
