As a piece of marble sculpture it is astonishing. Amazing what a master can do with stone.

If you go to the official website of the Capella Sansevero you can see the place itself in all of its glory.

Blows me away every time.

The focus on the single image has some parallels with the John Main school of contemplative prayer (the poverty of a single word/verse). A singular focal point brings a type of silence that allows us to hear God anew. Or as Rubem Avez said: ‘There is a Word which can be heard only when all words have become dumb, an eschatological (final destiny) Word which makes itself heard at the end of the world. Pure grace, no encaged bird, a wild bird, a wild bird which flies with the Wind.’

Be encouraged. Persevere. Be blessed through this time of Lent.

and thank you for what you have shared thus far.
