But you know, I think that concept can be hard for folks sometimes. I know this might sound silly, but what does “sending love” look like? As we know, love can “look” different, it can take different forms: agape, storge, philia, eros, right? But how do we “send” love when we don’t even like someone or something? This is an honest question that I think we all need to grapple with, if we are honest with ourselves.

C. S. Lewis lends great wisdom and insight on this very subject. He says, “do not waste your time bothering whether you ‘love’ your neighbor; act as if you do. As soon as we do this we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you love someone, you will presently come to love him [sic].”

Isn’t this great advice? Stop worrying about IF you love and just ACT as if you do, and before you know it, BAM!, that love will become authentic.

You know Mike, I have been influenced–as many have–by both Bosch and Lewis, and it isn’t until right his moment that I wonder, how a conversation between these two might transpire. I think I’m going to let my imagination run wild with that one for a while 🙂

Thanks, as always, for your insight and for provoking thought.

We certainly seem to have a lot of sharp points! No longer the dominant culture, we can’t just demand or expect our voice be heard. It is when the dynamic flowing love of God is evident in word and action that respect is earned and then voice is heard.

May we bring much more refreshing colourful hope to the space around us – as Jesus did.

I love your left field take on things Mike. More good food for thought.
