You offer such insight and understanding of this tragically off-balance place in which I live. As I listen to the protestors’ shouts, the police loud speaker, and the tear gas guns going off five blocks from my house, the reality that racism has not only killed people but destroyed lives as well. Even in my safe little Christian “mecca,” black men and women have FELT that their lives don’t matter, have EXPERIENCED that their lives don’t matter. Repenting of our sin is clearly not enough. Jesus showed us action, not mere words. An uprising and an active linking of arms is vital. Black lives absolutely matter!! This is the time to show the world that we stand as one and that we will destroy racism, that we are each the image of our God. I am ashamed of us.
