My boys returned from youth group sharing how they’d been encouraged by the pastor’s reminder that God cured the ultimate desease of sin/death so we can’t really die anymore.

We are afraid because our son was on life support for a number of weeks with the swine flu in 2009. As I was reading all the information on the WHO website I was drawn to the other emergencies like cholera and Ebola which are still killing thousands and to those reaching out in love to the suffering. My prayers have changed from “God, save my family”, to giving praise and asking for guidance to see God’s hand at work. To shift my perspective and to borrow the beautiful quote you included by C.S. Lewis, if Corona finds me, let it find me doing something worthwhile. I’ll be honest though, I don’t want it to find me or my family.

He and his wife had a passion and sense of call to serve and plant churches in Mindanao. They trained and left comfortable Suburbia and have spent most of the last 32 years living in a rural region where tropical diseases and terrorism and tribal conflict are ambient conditions. With God’s providence indigenous churches have been planted. My friends constantly talk of how the love of God is powerful in their environment.
