It’s quite presumptuous of you, Stan, to assume you know what God wants for me. You’re also over-reacting. I didn’t invent the term ‘fear-vangelicals’. Skye Jethani did, and I properly attributed it to him in my post. Also, he is a Republican-voting, pro-life, traditional-marriage guy (as I point out in the piece), so the idea that this is somehow “playing to a liberal audience” is nonsense. Do you honestly think there aren’t conservative evangelicals out there who react in the way Jethani outlines? It’s not “half the country” (I have no idea where you got that from), but it is a proportion of the evangelical community, and identifying fear as their motivation helps us both understand them and (hopefully) guide them to greater confidence in the gospel.

I am not talking about Michael’s description of fear-vengelicals or whatever he calls them. I am talking about those concerned about the blurring of lines between genders and the implications that arise from the decisions governments are making regarding these issues. It is lazy to dismiss this issue without understanding the larger matter and worse still to label those concerned as he does. Michael is falling short of his potential by only playing to a liberal audience. God wants more of him than that.
