When Jesus called his disciples together, in the beginning they were called the “followers of the way” and the way is the life of Jesus, rooted in love and antithetical to political system’s: Jesus is LORD and Lord; Caesar is not.

So what needs to be understood is that love must hum through all we do. We must trust in love and support in love, but also stand convicted with loving, compassionate civility. We must remember that weakness is our strength and by its virtue blossoms into the garden despite the darkness. It is only when we allow politics to influence us do we worship a false God: Jesus is LORD and Lord; Caesar is not.

The way we are called to is simple-complex, but it needs practice and nurturing, and I think … I know we can and must do better as the body of Christ to “grow our love.” We need to nurture and practice and “love our love,” Mike. Because, if we don’t really now what love is then how can we do it well?

This is all about loving well. AND loving the right thing. Really it is.
